Social Enterprise Model

Our aim is to play a key role in contributing towards an improved level of health and wellbeing for Scotland’s population. This goal will be achieved through the delivery of a range of health and wellbeing services for both anticipatory care and secondary prevention. We also aim to help reduce the incidence of long-term conditions that necessitate prolonged absences from work. This, in itself, could make a significant contribution to the national economy.
Our social aim is to re-invest profits directly into the local community for the benefit of all people and in particular those who would otherwise not be able to afford health and wellbeing services. The funds for our re-investment events are generated from our business activities. We call this our “Robin Hood concept".
Our mission is of an integrated approach to healthcare that provides people with an appropriate range of choices and opportunities which will allow them to make more informed decisions regarding their own health. Ultimately our mission is to provide access to these services under one roof.

Reinvestments
Definition of re-investment
Targeting those groups, communities, people and health areas that could benefit from our model of healthcare delivery. These services are available either free at point of delivery or at a reduced cost.
Our first re-investment event took place at Ainslie Park Leisure Centre in Edinburgh, where:
  • local people,

  • those with long-term conditions, and

  • sports centre customers,
were encouraged to take advantage of our health checks, complementary therapies, nutritional advice and snacks.

For this event, we worked in partnership with:
  • Edinburgh City Council’s economic development initiative, “Get On”.
  • Dunedin Canmore Housing Association (who provided housing advice).
  • Edinburgh Leisure.
  • The Big Lottery.

Further re-investment events were held in:
  • A homeless hostel in Leith.
  • 3 locations in Edinburgh for tenants of Dunedin Canmore Housing association.
  • Edinburgh, for the black and ethnic minority community.
  • Midlothian, for people with mental health issues.
